The scope of this project was to plan a dense settlement combining housing and artist studios on a small plot outside Munich. The proposed solution consists of row houses based on a wooden bulkhead construction connected between them by a continuous rooftop garden. The facades in between the massive load-bearing walls are fully glazed and offer appropriate illumination to the alternating double-height studio spaces in the north, and terraced living spaces in the south. The settlement is completed by an exhibition space at the head of the rows, of which the roof serves as a ramp to access the rooftop spaces and the tower sets a landmark visible from the nearby highway.
