For this project, the given task was to create a relief based on a piece of textile using concrete as material. After examining the weaving of the cloth itself and that of the pattern of the different coloured strings, it was reduced it to this 3×1 fish scale pattern accentuated by shadow gaps to denote it’s woven nature.

To build the mould, an interlocking module was designed which made it easy to produce in quantity. The resulting shapes of the cast as well as the mould proved so attractive some fun had to be had with them at different spatial scales.
